The Pupil Premium is money the school receives from the government to help the most disadvantaged children to achieve better results. The school currently receives £1455 per year for every eligible child.
Which children at this school are eligible? Your child is eligible if you are claiming:
• Income Support or
• Income Based Job Seekers Allowance or
• Income-related employment and support allowance or
• Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999 or
• Child Tax Credit but who are not entitled to working tax credit and whose annual income
(as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) does not exceed £16,190 or
• Guarantee element of state pension credit.
Note: Where a parent is entitled to Working Tax Credit during the four-week period immediately after their employment ceases, or after they start to work less than 16 hours per week, their children are entitled to free school meals.
How does the school get the money? If your child is eligible, in order for the school to get the Pupil Premium funding your child MUST be registered for free school meals. You can register your child for free school meals if you are claiming any of the above.

Important things to know The £1455 per year per child is in addition to the money received for their free school meals. Your child only needs to be registered for free school meals. They don’t have to eat them. They can still bring a packed lunch.
Your child will continue to attract Pupil Premium funding for six years after they have stopped being eligible for free school meals, whichever school they attend – that’s at least £8730 to support your child’s education. So even if you will only be claiming one of the above benefits for a short while, it is really worth the effort of registering your child for free school meals.
